partner in the firm of ‘Holyoke and Soren’, set sail for Suriname aboard the
‘Enterprise’ in late 1795 to collect “West-Indian products;” en route he
offered aid to a floundering British navy ship who took the Enterprise claiming
it was a French ship carrying French cargo; the case was judged in Barbados
where Soren recovered his ship but received no compensation for his losses; the
result was that he lost most of his investment in the venture. Both editions exceptionally
scarce
